Starting out as an April Fool’s joke on Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s Twitter account, the Tesla Tequila – infamously dubbed by Musk as “Teslaquila” (which was scratched immediately due to current industry regulations), is now spreading across the United States like a wildfire especially among curious citizens who want to try out the alcoholic beverage.
‘Lightning’ Quick Popularity
As if doubling-down on the already unusual product for a technology-oriented company such as Tesla, the Tesla Tequila is currently contained within a gold “flashy looking” (pun intended) lightning bolt-shaped bottle. Produced by Nosotros Tequila and fulfilled by Speakeasy Co., the $250 alcoholic drink quickly sold out in merely a day after being released – a testament to the massive word-of-mouth potential which Tesla, particularly Elon Musk, currently possesses in his arsenal.
Premium Alcohol at its Finest
Based on the official website, the Tesla Tequila is a 40% ABV, 750-mL 100% de agave tequila añejo aged in French oak barrels. Complimented by a balanced cinnamon pepper finish paired with a dry fruit and light vanilla nose. As of date, the Tesla Tequila is only available in select states within the United States and deliveries are expected to begin in late 2020. Customary with current regulations, the Tesla Tequila is only available for customers 21 years of age and above.
