As the curtains of 2020 are slowly drawing to a close, there are plenty of things to look back at such as the ever-raging coronavirus pandemic and the recently held U.S. Elections as some of the wild twists and turns that the start of a new decade had to offer to the world – sometimes you even find yourself imagining what the world was like decades ago. Well, look no further – with the release of the Qwerkywriter S Typewriter, experience a blast from the past at the tip of your very own fingers (literally).
A Clash of Old and New
The typewriter-inspired mechanical keyboard designed by the company Qwerkytoys is a beautiful blend of the old features found in most decade-old typewriters and the convenient functions offered by most keyboards nowadays.
The round keycaps and the chromatic aluminum build of the Qwerkywriter definitely delivers a retro aesthetic – though it might take some time to get used to the keyboard spacing and the mechanical wheels and levers which substitute for several functions such as the scroll wheel and the Enter key which we are all accustomed to, the Qwerkywriter nonetheless delivers.
Reliable Functionality
Speaking of a learning curve, fortunately, the designers behind the Qwerkywriter have also considered the difficulties that may be encountered in adjusting to the typewriter’s classic accessibility functionalities. Features such as an actual ‘Enter’ key, both wired and wireless support, and a multi-device wireless connectivity application which allows several laptops/tablets/mobile phones to connect and program the mechanical keyboard.
Additionally, the Qwerkywriter also comes with an integrated tablet stand which can accommodate 10.5-inch screens and most 12-inch tablets so long as it does not exceed 5/8 inches in thickness. The rechargeable lithium battery of the mechanical keyboard can also last for up to two weeks on a single charge depending on how often the Qwerkywriter is used on a given day.
