Insta360 GO 2 is a tiny action camera that’s designed to fit just about anywhere, allowing you to take amazing pictures in places where bigger cameras wouldn’t suffice. It’s the second generation in Insta360’s ‘GO’ series, the company’s only non-360-degree cameras.
But GO 2’s miniature size isn’t its only selling point. The camera also comes with tons of cool and ingenious specs that make it every videographer’s dream.
How Small Is The Insta360 GO 2 Camera?
Admittedly, Insta360 GO 2’s incredibly small size and weight are the two primary attractions of this camera. The camera measures 2.1 inches x 0.9 inches x 0.8 inches and weighs a paltry 26.5 grams.
It’s barely bigger than the size of your thumb or an earbud. According to some reviewers, the camera resembles an oversized Tic Tic with an eyeball.
Other Design Features and Functionality
Insta360 GO 2 is all-white and features rounded corners, with the tiny camera sitting at one end. There’s a single button on the camera which is located on the front.
When the camera is off, a single press of the button activates the device and makes it start recording while a double press snaps a photo. And when the camera is on, a single press activates motion-stabilized video while a double press activates hyper-lapse video.
Insta360 GO 2 also comes with a charging case that doubles up as its remote and stand. As a remote control, the charging case features a small display and two buttons that let you switch between modes and settings. And as a stand, the case features a screw mount at the bottom for mounting it on a standard iPhone tripod.
Insta360 GO 2 also comes with a magnetic pendant for wearing the camera on the front of your shirt, as well as a clip for attaching it safely to objects. What’s more, there’s a swivel mount with an adhesive bottom for mounting the camera on flat surfaces, such as your car’s dashboard.
Lastly, Insta360 Go 2 comes with a battery that lasts about half an hour when recording 1440p stabilized footage at 30 fps. But due to its tiny size, the camera only features an internal storage capacity of 32GB.
Despite its tiny size, it’s reassuring to note that the Insta360 GO 2 performs exceptionally well in terms of image quality. In fact, the manufacturer placed much emphasis on image quality while designing this camera after its predecessor fell short in the same area.
The Insta360 GO 2 camera can record video at resolutions as high as 2880 x 2880 and 30 fps. For comparison’s sake, Go 2’s resolution is slightly larger than that of its predecessor, which had 2720 x2720 and 25 fps.
However, note that Insta360 exports Go 2 as 1440p (2560 x 1440), ostensibly to take care of the electronic image stabilization in what the manufacturer calls FlowState. The FlowState stabilization algorithm allows for horizontal leveling when taking pictures or recording videos, despite the camera’s orientation.
Insta360 GO 2’s impressive resolution makes the camera remarkable at color isolation and motion stabilization. You can also adjust your field of view by toggling between Wide, Action, Linear, and Narrow settings.
The camera can record up to thirty minutes of un-stabilized video footage, up to fifteen minutes with basic stabilization, and 10 minutes when the FlowState is turned on. But with the Timelapse setting, the GO 2 camera can record up to 110 minutes.
And needless to mention, photos taken with Insta360 GO 2 are nearly as amazing as video footage.
Insta360 GO 2 scores highly in terms of design, functionality, and video/image quality. The action camera is also Wi-Fi-enabled and comes with an app for a better user experience.
